Job Description
Early childhood educators help to plan, organize and implement programs for children between the ages of 19 months and 6 years. Early childhood educators lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth and ensure their security and well-being.
Early childhood educator assistants
- Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Assist Level 3 ECE teacher in the classroom
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Serve snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
- Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and sanitizing toys
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
- Prepare the Montessori learning environment
Requirements
Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 2 certification
Standard Child Care first aid & CPR certification - valid (within last 12 months)
Experience working with children aged 19 months to 6 years in a licensed child care setting
A positive attitude and collaborative teamwork approach
Excellent verbal and writing communication skills including basic computer literacy
Evidence of Police Security Clearance report including vunerable sector search (less than 6 months from hiring date)
